 What's new at Bloor West Winery ...
"Boxing Week" is over, but our
"Boxing Week"savings continue all year long.

When you "make" your own wine at Bloor West Winery, you will save 50% ... 60% ... even 70% or more compared to the cost of a similar wine from the LCBO and that is like getting "Boxing Week" prices each and every day of the year.

Of course, there are many other benefits of "our" wine compared to commercial brands including ...

- A more natural product with about 1/5 the additives of commercial wines;
- Less tannin than commercial wines (but, if you really like tannin, we can add more);
- More environmentally friendly;
- Save time, gas and trips to the LCBO by making 30 bottles at a time;
- Always have wine on hand;
- A fun event with your friends, neighbours or co-workers;
- A clean winemaking facility that we are always pleased to show you;
- Highest standards in winemaking practices;
- Our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee relieves any risk you think you might have, and
- Knowledgeable and friendly people to help you understand your choices.

Please drop in to the winery and learn how we can help you enjoy wine that tastes great and costs less!  Cheers!

For wine lovers who like to save!

We found this new line at the Gift Show and immediately added them to our inventory. They deliver Spiegelau’s famous quality and style, the same Platinum Glass* for durability, and unmatched value: a box of 4 glasses is just $29.95 plus HST. Available in red, white and champagne. While these glasses are dishwasher safe (as proven by 1,500 cycles at an independent laboratory), we still recommend hand washing.

* The Platinum Glass process: In glassmaking, liquid glass is passed through platinum-lined tubes to eliminate any impurities and remove all imperfections and inconsistencies that might otherwise exist. (Platinum prevents leaching that may occur from other equipment linings) While more expensive, this innovative use of technology demonstrates Spiegelau’s commitment to quality. The result is a “high performance” wine glass with a remarkable marriage of elegance, functionality and durability.

More taste for less money ...

Fuzion Shiraz Malbec is the best-selling red wine in Ontario (419,000 cases in 2009, the latest year for which we have data).

Its popularity seems based on its label and relatively low price (now $7.75 for 750mL).  Certainly, it has popularized the blending of Shiraz and Malbec.

Not surprisingly, our main supplier, Vincor-owned RJ Spagnols, introduced a Malbec Syrah blend from Argentina in January 2010 as part of its limited release program that year. Our initial orders for this blend were, well, so-so, but, then ... as these orders were bottled, customers immediately re-ordered. As others tasted this wine, more people made it ... and it quickly became our best-selling limited release wine ever!

Naturally, customers have been asking when this wine will return and, at last, it is back and in-stock at Bloor West Winery.

Now, once again, you can enjoy this full bodied blend that is fruit forward and approachable with balanced toasted vanilla flavours from Hungarian oak.

The wine hints of cherries and black current up front, with darker, richer notes of coffee, tobacco and licorice behind. Round and smooth with balanced tannins, this is a very easy drinking wine. Pair with grilled foods as well as heartier meat dishes from the oven.

Bloor West Winery's winning wines are:

GOLD:

En Primeur Pinot Grigio (2010)

SILVER:

CellarCraft Showcase Darlington Point Riverina Shiraz (2009)

A bargain that is virtually effortless...
well, at least for YOU!

Ask any of our regular customers why they return time and time again, and you would learn all about the tremendous value, experience and fun that on premise winemaking provides to them.

The very best on premise wines replicate those wines you’ll find in your local bottle store —
  •   They come from a single wine-producing region, or even from a single vineyard,
  •      They are a single varietal or are a true blend, and
  •      Red wnes are fermented on skins and require bottle ageing to reach their full potential.

The differences are clear as well — on premise made wines are largely free of tax, just as they have much fewer additives than commercial wine.

Saving all that tax money does require that you participate in the winemaking process - it’s the law - but your two visits will be easy and fun.

On your first visit, you select your wine and start the fermentation. Then, you leave all the intermediate steps to us.

Once your wine is ready, you return to bottle and label your wine.  We provide all the easy-to-use equipment, all the supplies and an organized work-space.

Always, your satisfaction is 100% Guaranteed.  Since I am shouldering all of the risk, my question to you is simple and clear: Which wines will you make today?
